108 South Main, part of what is affectionately remembered by our community as the “Hill’s Building” has a rich history of tenants who occupied its space. From its original dry goods store in 1872 to becoming the Hill’s Pharmacy from 1981–2017.

Chris Moore recently joined Ken Lanphear on Kalamazoo Mornings to chat about The Mill and the restoration of downtown Vicksburg’s historic buildings. Give it a listen to hear about what kickstarted his passion for preserving history and upcoming plans for the buildings.

The historic buildings located at 108 and 110 S. Main St. have a rich history here in Vicksburg. It started as an apothecary in 1872, and over the years housed many different businesses, including other drugstores, grocery stores and a variety of other shops. Most recently, it was Hill’s Pharmacy, which closed in 2017.

The Lee Paper Mill, built from 1903–1905, was a cornerstone of Vicksburg, Michigan for nearly a century. At its peak, its machines churned out 17 tons of paper
